Daily Devotional: January 19 – No Rat Race

You have delivered me from the strivings of the people; You have made me the head of the nations; A people I have not known shall serve me – Psalm 19:43

What are you striving towards? For most people, the answer is financial freedom! Yet, statistics show us that most people never get to the point where they feel financially free; where they can retire early or do what they really want to do. Conversely, most people feel that they are stuck in a rat race – working harder and harder without making any progress in life. But God is not a God of the rat race, God is a God of progress. Just as God delivered David from the strivings of the people and made him king, God can deliver us just the same and cause us to reign in life. We don’t have to experience what everyone else is experiencing, and we don’t have to live like the rest of the world! David shared the secret to how he escaped the strivings of the people, when he wrote that God rewarded him for his righteousness (Psalm 19:20 and Psalm 19:24). The bible tells us that Jesus has become our righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30). When we submit to Jesus and do what He wants us to do, we can live as God desires for us to live. We can rule and reign in life (Romans 5:17).

Because I am with the best, I don’t have to settle for less
