Daily Devotional: February 13 – No Room for Pride

In God we boast all day long, and praise your name forever – Psalm 44:8

Are you boasting in God or boasting in yourself? Pride says look at what I did on my own. Humility on the other says look at what God was able to do through me. If we must boast, then it is best to boast about God than boast about ourselves. The moment we start to think our accomplishments are all our own doing is when we start to look away from God. Invariably, looking away from God causes us to stumble and fall. Choose to boast all day in the Lord and it will keep you in a state of humility. And when you stay humble, you will find yourself praising Him. Why? Because his grace follows humility, glory follows grace, and praise follows glory. Therefore, you should make no room in your life for pride if you desire to see and experience more of the glory of God and want to His praise to be forever on your lips.

When I stay humble, I stay in His grace

Hmmm. What is the thing in us that wants to take credit for what we’ve done and want to do it all by ourselves?

I am reminded that God is the invisible force powering everything that I do and accomplish. It is pride and and an illusion to think otherwise.

God is a proud Father and He loves when we run with what He’s given us and bear much fruit because therein is He glorified but we must remember all things come from Him- the wisdom, the power, the ability etc.

It reminds of the lyrics of a song

Yahweh invisible. But your works are visible What You do is tangible. No one can doubt You
