Daily Devotional: February 16 – Refuge and Strength

God is our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble – Psalm 46:1

Where can you go to hide from God’s presence? The answer is nowhere! God is not only in us, but He is also with and is all around us. The Psalmist reminds us that even if we were to make our beds in the very bowels of hell, we still won’t be able to escape from God (Psalm 139:8). That God is omnipresent is good news for those of us who are His. Wherever His presence is, his power is present and can manifest. When we are in trouble, He is there, regardless of whether the trouble we are in is of our own doing or the doing of others. We can ask Him for help, and He can help us out with His mercy, wisdom, favor, power, or whatever else we need. He is the great I AM and will be what He needs to be for us in our circumstances. So no, God is not distant from you. He is right there with you in your troubles. Call on Him and let Him be your refuge and strength.

God does not run away from me in time of trouble, He runs to help me
