Daily Devotional: August 3 – Good Stranger

am a stranger in the earth; do not hide Your commandments from me – Psalm 119:19

People are usually wary of strangers because strangers are unlike them. Words such as weird and odd can be used to describe people who just do not fit in. But do you know we are called to be strange? It is strange when you have peace when everyone else is panicking. It is strange when you can still have joy when a loved one passes away. It is strange when you are living a life of purity when everyone else does whatever they want. People who stand out from the crowd often stick out like sore thumbs. Yet, this is exactly what we are called to be when compared to the world. If the world does not see something strange in us, it may be that we are no different from the world. If we are no different, then it may be that that we have become estranged from God’s commandments. Jesus was the strangest person to walk this earth. The things He could do were strange the world; His love for sinners was strange to the world; the things He said were strange to the world; choosing to die for our sins is strange. It takes people and things that are strange (unfamiliar) to the world to change it.

I will not be concerned when ungodly people consider me strange
