I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant, for I do not forget Your commandments – Psalm 119:176
While it is possible to know God’s commandments and still go astray, it is impossible to follow God’s commandments and go astray! Knowing and following are two different things. If we know but do not follow, it is either because we have become prideful or we are fearful. If this is the case, then it is only a matter of time before we go astray like lost sheep. Now, there is no shame in acknowledging that we are lost and that we need God to help us find ourselves. Getting us lost is what fear does. Fear causes us to act in a way that we do not recognize and that is incongruent with who we are in Christ. If you can no longer recognize yourself, it is time to admit you have lost your way and ask Him for help. If you are baffled by what you are doing, then it is time to admit you are lost and ask Him for help. Being honest with himself and humble to ask for help is what the psalmist did. This is what you should do! When you do, God’s love will find you where you are and His love will restore you to wholeness.
You can never be too lost for God not to find you
