Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you – Psalm 122:6
Jerusalem literally means City of Peace. Jesus is referred to as the Prince of Peace in the book of Isaiah; apostle Paul also mentions that Jesus is our peace in his letter to the Ephesians. Thus, in a spiritual sense, the City of Peace represents the City of Jesus. It represents a place where the saints congregate and live, and where Jesus lives. In other words, it represents the church – the bride of Christ; the body of people worldwide who believe in Him (regardless of denomination), who live in Him, and in whom He lives. It is good for us to pray for the worldwide church that they (the people) prosper as the true church reflects the heart of God, cares for truth and justice, and uses her gift to love people. Simply put, a prosperous church leads to a prosperous world. Therefore, we should always pray for the peace of Jerusalem. As the church reflects Christ, the more the world will love her.
It is good for me to pray for the peace and prosperity of all believers
