The Lord says to my lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” – Psalm 110:1
We injure ourselves and make situations worse when we decide to fight battles that belong to God. One such battle is the battle to get our partner to change. It is not our job to change people as that job belongs to God. All we can do is pray for people and give them grace while taking steps to shield ourselves from potential collateral damage that comes from their actions. Prayer is a form of battle; it is spiritual warfare. This is the type of warfare that God instructed David to engage in. To sit at God’s right hand is to spend time in the presence of God in conversation (with Him). The promise from God is that He will subdue our enemies. When we fight God’s way; when we fight the battle first on our knees, we win without experiencing the destruction that comes from taking matters into our own hands. It is time for you to sit down and let God fight your battles for you.
I will go to the Lord to understand the strategy for victory before rushing into battle
