I will take up the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the LORD – Psalm 116:13
What is in the cup of salvation? The cup of salvation contains the blood of the vine (Christ), which in turn is the wine of the Holy Spirit. The wine of the Holy Spirit is made up of the fruit of the Spirit, fermented in the gift of the Spirit, and bottled in the love of God. Taking up the cup of salvation is tantamount to letting the Spirit of God have His way in your life – to be influenced by Him and to be empowered by Him. You have a choice each day: you can either drink from the wine of the world and call upon the desires of your own fleshly ways (like an animal) and worldly ways (like the unrighteous) or you can drink from the cup of salvation and call upon the will of God. Drinking from the wine of the world leads to disaster but drinking from wine of the Holy Spirit leads to deliverance. The Psalmist chose to drink from the cup that contains deliverance (salvation). You are wise if you do the same.
If I am to drink, then I will only drink the wine that leads to life
