Daily Devotional: October 31 – Praise Kills Pride

Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praises on the harp to our God – Psalm 147:7

Throughout the book of Psalm, you will find king David emphasizing that we should sing praises to God. As I thought of it, I realized a few things: It keeps us from taking credit for things that God has accomplished for us, through us, or in us. It keeps pride away and puts us in a posture of humility. It helps us to maintain an attitude of gratitude. Thus, praise keeps us from pride, arrogance, boasting, and gives honor where honor is due. Friend, praise is beneficial in your relationship with both God and people. Praise enables you to keep God first and central in your life and helps you to have better relationships with people as it shows that you value them. To conclude, note that praise and flattery are different. Flattery is a selfish act that aims to gain something while praise comes from a sincere heart that recognizes the value people add. Choose praise over flatter.

I will give praise to whom praise is due
