Daily Devotional: September 2 – Daily Routine

My tongue shall speak of Your word, for all Your commandments are righteousness – Psalm 119:172

The bible says that we should seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though those of us who have accepted Christ are righteous because we are positioned in Christ, the question remains concerning how we can be righteous by practice. Being righteous by practice is important because it is what allows us to take hold of the grace that is already ours by courtesy of our position in Christ. Thankfully, we are not left to wonder how to be righteous by practice. The Psalmist reveals to us here that His righteousness directly refers to His commandments (what He tells us to do). Thus, practical righteousness requires that we seek God’s instructions daily. So, what is your daily routine? Do you daily seek God’s instructions through His word and prayer? Rather than pick up the phone when you wake up tomorrow, why not pick up your bible. It will make a big difference in your day. It will make a big difference in your life.

His commandments are key to me having my best days

Daily Devotional: September 1- Great Peace

Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble – Psalm 119:165

The law of God was spoken to Moses who then wrote it down on animal skin. The spoken law had to be written down because Israel chose to have Moses communicate with God on their behalf as they were afraid of Him (see account of Israel at Mount Sinai). Since Moses would eventually die, the only way to preserve it was to have it written, especially given that the people did not have a direct connection with God. Today, we have a direct connection to God through the Holy Spirit! To love the law of God today is to love the precepts, principles, and instructions He gives us daily through His written word. Hence, it is not those who memorize and recite the word of God incessantly who experience peace and do not stumble but those who listen to God with their heart, and then act on the things that He shares with them as they meditate on His word. May we be counted amongst those who love the law (principles) of God.

I cannot say I love the law of God without following it
