Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law – Psalm 94:12
God is eternal and is not bound by time. Thus, He not only knows what happened in the past, He is aware of the present and knows what the future holds. When He inspired the written Scripture, He had the past, present, and future in mind. As such, the instruction He embedded within the Scripture speaks to the past, present and the future. We ought not to miss out on the wisdom embedded in the bible simply because we are reading it like a manual or simply as a history book. Rather, we should open our hearts to receive whatever the Lord wills to speak. God speaks to us out of the Scripture and gives us fresh illumination that suits our everyday needs. This is what makes the bible timeless and relevant forever – God who is timeless and lives forever speaks to us through His words. The bible is different from any other book in that it is not only the inspired word of God for all mankind, but that God chooses to speak to us through the bible. By reading the bible, we not only get to know what He has said, we also get to hear what He is saying as He teaches and instructs us.
I will listen to what God speaks as I study His inspired word
