Daily Devotional: June 3 – Salvation Known

The Lord has made known His salvation; His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the nations – Psalm 98:2

God wants all people to know Jesus! It has always been and will always be God’s plan for Jesus to be known and accepted by all nations. Consider that this is likely part of the reason why Jesus was revealed in Jerusalem. Why Jerusalem? It is because Jerusalem was a very important gateway in the ancient world and was a melting pot of different cultures. Indeed, all tribes and nations of diverse tongues were present in Jerusalem, thus it was apt for Jesus to die and be resurrected there, for the news would travel far and wide. Furthermore, consider that the disciples spoke in tongues on the Day of Pentecost, so that people understood no matter what language they spoke. Consider that there is almost no place on earth where Jesus has not been preached. Consider that the bible continues to be the most widely sold book in the world, year after year. All this is not by mistake. God has willed it and so it has been. God loves ALL peoples and wants all peoples to know Him. What can you and other people do to know Him better?

God desires a deep relationship with me and other people around me

Daily Devotional: June 2 – Light-Hearted

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart – Psalm 97:11

There is a light that is all around us that not everyone pays attention to or decides to walks in. The true light is Christ, and only those that make the right choice of accepting Him have the opportunity to walk in the light. While those of us who are righteous in identity have access to the light, only those who are righteous in practice find the light that illuminates their path, so they do not stumble their way through life. The righteous in identity have faith while the righteous in practice walk by faith.  We fall and fail without walking in the light of God! Should we decide to pay attention to the light of Christ that is within us, we find that we are upright in heart and gladness takes over our life. Uprightness is the result of looking internally and allowing the light in us to shine. As the Psalmist reminds us, there is a light that the righteous carries. We must not let that light lie dormant, but we must let it shine by paying attention to it and walking in it. Only then will our hearts and the hearts of our loved ones be glad.

Gladness is mine when I choose to let the light of God illuminate my heart

Daily Devotional: June 1 – Do You Love?

You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked – Psalm 97:10

We cannot love God and love evil at the same time. Yet, hating evil and hating people is not the same thing. God loves people, therefore if we say we love God, then we must also love people. The reason we should hate evil is not only for our sake but because evil destroys the lives of the people that God loves and that we love by our association with God. Hence, we should never allow ourselves to justify hate towards people we disagree with (who may be doing things we consider evil) under the guise of our love for God! If we love God, then we love people! If we hate sin, then it should drive us to spend time with sinners so that we can point them towards the God who takes away sin! Remember, Jesus was called a friend of sinners! A real love for God also turns us into a friend of sinners – meaning we do what we can to turn them to Christ without compromising ourselves. May we never be like the pharisees who made themselves enemies of sinners – ignoring them and scoffing at them from a distance. May we see people the way God sees them

Just like God loves us all, I also choose to love everyone
