Daily Devotional: September 29 – His Mercy

Who remembered us in our lowly state, for His mercy endures forever – Psalm 136:23

When you are down and out, know that God remembers you. When you think nobody cares, remember that God is there for you. He is there for us whether we are feeling the highest of highs or the lowest of lows. He is not a fair-weather God but a God who is constant and steadfast through thick and thin. Everybody else may shun, neglect, and dissert us, but He will never do that. His mercy, which endures forever, will also make its way to find us. His mercy never fails to find us; neither does it fail to accomplish the act of love that is in the Father’s heart. Oh, that we would recognize how merciful God has been to us and how much we need his mercy daily. God will not break a bruised reed nor quench a smoldering wick (Isaiah 42:3). Rather He chooses to restore anyone that is bruised, broken, and used up, regardless of how we ended up in the state. God is merciful and His mercy to you endures forever.

There is no one as merciful as God. His mercy will never dissert me.

Daily Devotional: September 28 – Lift Your Hands

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord – Psalm 134:2

According to the precept set forth by Moses, one of the duties of the priest in the tent of tabernacles was to lift up his hands in a wave and heave motion in what was called a wave and heave offering. Today, we understand that the vertical heave offering is a way of acknowledging how the sacrifice put us in right standing with God and the horizontal wave offering is a way of acknowledging how the sacrifice puts us in right relationship with each other. Hence the heave and wave offering together is a representation of the cross (vertical and horizontal) and what Jesus Christ did. When you lift up your hands in worship, you are acknowledging that you belong to God and that your lives belong to Him. It is a posture of surrender (humility) that leads you to be empowered by Him. The Lord is blessed anytime you present yourself as a vessel to be used by Him. May you lift up your heart to Him as you lift up your hands to Him.

I will not just lift my hands but my heart to Him who is worthy
