Daily Devotional: June 11 – Destitute, Not Despised

He shall regard the prayer of the destitute, and shall not despise their prayer – Psalm 102:17

Sometimes, we justify our inaction towards destitute people by saying that they are simply living out the consequences of their own actions. Sometimes, we find ourselves being more concerned with judging them for being destitute rather than being concerned with their state. And then at times, we excuse our inaction by claiming that if we helped, one destitute person, then others will come, and we can’t help them all. In contrast to man, God’s ears are always open to the cry of the destitute and He is always trying to motivate the heart of man to help those who are in such a state. Brethren, we are God’s hands and feet. When God sends a destitute person to us, it is because His heart is to reach and help that person. We shouldn’t concern ourselves as to why the person is in such a state but rather concern ourselves with what God wants to do through us for the person. God wants us to be the answer to the cry of the destitute. Do not despise their prayer.

I will find ways to be God’s answer to the cry of the destitute

Daily Devotional: June 10 – Law and Order

Early I will destroy all the wicked of the land, that I may cut off all the evildoers from the city of the Lord –Psalm 101:8

The establishment of law and order is a prerequisite to securing enduring peace and prosperity in any nation. The enforcement of law and order cuts off evildoers from a city and discourages the wicked from establishing themselves in such a city. Now, consider your life as a city. Do you have law and order in your city? Do you have boundaries you will not cross and disciplines (order) that define your days? Is there anything or anyone to hold you accountable? The bible says that a man who has no rule over his own spirit (heart) is like a city which is broken down and without walls (Proverbs 25:28). So, what rules your heart, righteousness or lawlessness? The righteous defer to the plan and purpose of God to determine the choices that police their day to day. It is only when we let the God rule will our lives will be focused and productive. It is only then that we get to live a life by God’s design rather than a life designed by everyday occurrences.

God’s plan and purpose will police my day-to-day choices

Daily Devotional: June 9 – Faithful Friends

My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me – Psalm 101:5

People who are truly full of faith are different. They tend to be positive, bold, and courageous. They tend to be disciplined, consistent, and full of hope despite their immediate circumstance. They tend to be fearless because they know that the promises of God in Christ are yes and amen (2 Corinthians 1:20). Since having a faith-filled attitude produces positive life results and rewards the faithful, the people with whom we surround ourselves – whether they are of faith or fear – have much to do with the impact of our lives. How wonderful it is to have friends who are full of faith (faithful) – friends who not only push and support us but are on the same journey of faith and carry the same attitude. So, let me ask you – where are your eyes? Are they on the faithful of the land? And who is dwelling with you – are they full of faith? Decide to surround yourself and dwell with faithful friends, and you’ll see your life soar from glory to glory.

I am a few faithful friends away from the breakthrough I desire
