Daily Devotional: June 4 – Equity for All

The King’s strength also loves justice; You have established equity – Psalm 99:4

Another word for equity is fairness or impartiality. Unfortunately, there are those who still believe in partially towards groups of people. It shows up in feeling entitled; it shows up in cognitive biases; it shows up as superiority complex that leads to the justification of the unequitable treatment of certain people groups based on history, origin, ethnicity, gender, etc. But God is all about equity. Under the dispensation of grace, there is no more Greek or Jew, male or female, servant or master (Galatians 3:28) but all are considered the same in the eyes of God. It is also mentioned that God shows no favoritism or partiality (Acts 10:34). Alas, the erroneous thinking of favoritism has also found its way into the church. As believers, we must know that the Holy Spirit loves justice and works equitably in our lives. Therefore, we do not have to be concerned about whether God has favorites. He does not! He is fair, just, and equitable towards us no matter how we identify ourselves. No matter what denomination we call ourselves, the currency of grace remains faith! Let me ask – do you believe in justice and equity or are you holding unto some bias and prejudice?

If I do not believe in equity, then I do not believe the same as God
