Daily Devotional: July 17 – Go For It

You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield – Psalm 115:11

Is it one thing to fear the Lord, but quite another thing to trust Him. To fear the Lord is to respect and have an awe of the Lord. When we respect the Lord, we pay attention to Him. When we pay attention to Him, we see Him as He is, and we develop an awe of Him. The Psalmist implores us not only to pay attention to Him and just stand in awe of Him. He also implores us to trust in Him. Real trust leads us to listen intently to the Lord; real trust requires action. Thus, the Psalmists’ message is that we should not be passive in our relationship with God but should actively participate and partner with God – listening to Him intently with an attitude to do what He desires of us. When we do, He does not leave us to our own devices but actively helps us succeed and shields us from dangers on the way. Trusting in God allows you to go for it without worrying about what the future holds.

I have a partner in God who will help me accomplish my goals
