Daily Devotional: September 11 – Light or Dark

As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them away with the workers of iniquity – Psalm 125:5

We must not fool ourselves! Though we are counted amongst the children of the light, we will reap the rewards of the workers of iniquity if we choose to live as children of darkness. If this happens, it is not because God has failed to love us, it is because we have failed to love ourselves. We choose not to love ourselves when we  choose not to live within the confines of His commandments – either by choosing to be disobedient to them or by choosing to be ignorant of them. As beings who have freewill, we are free to choose one way or the other, including whether to rejoice in His love or to reject it. We should choose to walk in the light because that represents our true identity. To reject the light is to invite darkness into our world; it is to pollute who we are; it is to walk contrary to our redeemed nature in Christ. So let me ask you: Are you walking like a child of the light or do you need to make different decisions and alter your course?

I choose to walk in the light and not in the dark
