For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place – Psalm 132:13
God uses physical things to teach us spiritual principles (see Romans 1:20). As examples, Zion refers to Israel, Israel means prince with God, and Jerusalem means city of peace. When we accept Christ, we are grafted into God’s family. We become royalty and we become princes with God. As a collective, we are a congregation who live with the Prince of Peace (Christ). God can only dwell in a holy place, therefore for God to dwell in Zion means that God is dwelling within us, who have been made holy. Our holiness comes when we accept what Jesus has done, as it causes our sins to be taken away, thereby making us a habitable place for the Holy Spirit to dwell. As believers, God has chosen to dwell with us. Hallelujah! What a privilege! What an honor! It is not because of our own doing but because of Christ. We are chosen to benefit from the awesome work of Christ. You can rejoice because He has chosen you, a part of Zion, as His dwelling place.
